Prof. Curran on bridging the gap from classroom to policy

Discusses educators entering the Public Policy realm

This week, Professor Chris Curran was featured in Insight into Diversity in the piece "Teachers Pursue Public Policy Degrees to Better Advocate for their Students."

Drawing from his own experience as a classroom educator, Prof. Curran explains how classroom experience is invaluable for those entering the education policy and research field.

Prof. Curran describes how the structure of The School of Public Policy at UMBC particularly caters to current education professionals, bridging the gap between educators and policymakers and researchers. More than 3/4 of the graduate students in UMBC's public policy masters and Ph.D. programs attend part time and continue to work full time, sometimes in schools as teachers or administrators.
