Confused by commas? Stymied by semicolons? The Writing Center is pleased to offer a six-part workshop series focusing on some of the most common questions and concerns students have when they come to the Writing Center. Our six-week workshop series, beginning on Wednesday October 15th, will cover a number of important topics:

Wednesday, October 15th, 12-1pm: Punctuation: An overview


Wednesday, October 22nd, 12-1pm: The Comma Conundrum: How, when, and where to use commas


Wednesday, October 29th, 12-1pm: Runaway Run-ons, Frustrating Fragments: Correcting run-on sentences and fragments


Wednesday, November 5th, 12-1pm: This is a Thesis: Generating clear thesis statements and topic sentences 


Wednesday, November 12th, 12-1pm: Audience Awareness: Writing for your reader


Wednesday, Nobember 19th, 12-1pm: Picture This: Descriptive Writing

Students MUST REGISTER BY EMAIL. Seating is limited to ten students per workshop. Students may register for as many workshops as they like. To register, send an email to Ms. Anissa Sorokin at sorokin1@umbc.edu. Include your name, student number, and the workshops you would like to register for.
