United Nations Security Council reform has been hotly debated since the end of the Cold War, but since 2007, the push to give the council its 21st century make-over has largely stalled. In his book Finding a Cue through Q, Andreas Schwenk chronicles the history, key initiatives and major players in this important discussion, while focusing on the U.S. and Germany. Diplomats from both sides were asked to assess their countries‘ national discourses on the topic and to reveal personal preferences for reform. With the help of Q-methodology, Schwenk was then able to derive two different reform stories from the two sides of the Atlantic Ocean, providing us with greater insight into the two countries' wishes, concerns and interests.
