Prof. Bennett pub. article on affirmative action in colleges

Examining affirm. action in context of 2003 SCOTUS ruling

This week, Prof. Pamela R. Bennett co-authored an article published in the Journal of Law and Social Policy (JLSP). The article, "How Affirmative Action Context Shapes Collegiate Outcomes at America's Selective Colleges and Universities," examines how affirmative action context relates to academic outcomes in US universities. In the article, the authors compare outcomes before and after the US Supreme Court's 2003 Grutter decision, in which the Supreme Court ruled that affirmative action is constitutional, but should implemented via holistic evaluation of applicants.

This research is particularly relevant in light of the recent federal court decision finding that Harvard University did not discriminate against Asian American applicants during the admissions process.
