Welcome to the UMBC College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) Van Reservation portal. Our fleet is available to UMBC faculty and staff to support transportation for official CAHSS-related curricula, business functions, and activities.
Our Fleet
The CAHSS fleet consists of four specialized vehicles designed to meet various departmental needs. Please review the specifications below to determine the best fit for your trip.

Reservation Process
Reservations are managed through CAHSS Operations. To ensure availability, please submit requests as early as possible.

- Submit Request: Complete the CAHSS Van Reservation Request Form.
- Required Information: You will need to provide the date, time, destination, number of seats, and the names of authorized drivers.
- Review & Assignment: CAHSS Operations will review the request and assign the appropriate vehicle.
- Confirmation: Once added to the calendar you will receive an invite to the calendar reservation confirming your details and important information
Driver Requirements & Training
All drivers must be authorized UMBC employees or students, at least 18 years of age, and possess a valid driver’s license with less than 6 points.
Paperwork Submission
Drivers must submit all required documents at least 10 business days prior to the reservation via the Driver Paperwork Submission Form. Last minute requests will be processed when possible.

- Driver’s Record Review: A non-certified copy of your driving record. Drivers with 6 or more points are ineligible.
- Driver Acknowledgement Form: Required annually.
- Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement: Required annually.
- Test Drive: Drivers are able to test drive the vehicle prior to the reservation if requested
Policies & Responsibilities
Fuel and Charging

- Electric Vans: The 14-seat E-Transit should be returned to the Lot 9 Fleet charger located near the PAHB Loading Dock and plugged in for overnight charging.
- Gas Vans: Each van has a gas key for use at Facilities Management. While CAHSS staff typically refuel between local reservations, units are responsible for fuel costs on long trips.
Driver Responsibilities

- Waivers: Ensure that all passengers have submitted their waivers prior to leaving the parking lot.
- Safety: Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and operate the vehicle safely.
- Logs: Complete the check-out and check-in forms to maintain mileage and incident logs.
- Cleanliness: Dispose of all trash and clean up spills before returning the vehicle.
- Damage/Accidents: Report all incidents, accidents, and damage that occurs during reservation.
- Fines: Drivers are personally responsible for all traffic and parking violations accrued during the reservation.
