Pedestrians and cyclists face challenges in sharing the road

Public Policy's Professor John Rennie Short writes for The Conversation about how an increase in foot and bike traffic in cities, while a good idea in the long run, is causing problems in the short and medium term as cyclists and pedestrians face dangers of a shared road.

Nationally and in major cities across the country, pedestrian and cyclist deaths have increased in the past decade, as cities make policies that encourage walking and cycling, but the roads remain dominated by vehicles.
