ARCHAEOLOGY IN JORDAN, SUMMER 2019

Come excavate with Dr. Melissa Bailey Kutner at Dhiban, one of the most important archaeological sites in Jordan. Dhiban was occupied from the Iron Age through the late Roman and early Islamic periods. Students will learn archaeological excavation techniques, as well as to record data and process artifacts, and will take field trips around Jordan to sites such as Petra and Jerash. The field school lasts from July 3 to August 6, and students will earn 8 semester credits equivalent to ARCH 397.

More information, including the syllabus and cost, can be found here: https://ifrglobal.org/program/jordan-dhiban/ Many scholarships are available, both through UMBC and other organizations, and financial aid can be used as well. Please contact Dr. Kutner at mabailey@umbc.edu for more information. An informational meeting will be held at the beginning of spring semester, but some scholarships have early deadlines, so feel free to contact Dr. Kutner sooner if interested.
