Alumni Olszewski, Sydnor, Cardin, & Hastings win elections

Representing Baltimore Cty Exec, MD Delegates, & Cty Council

Last night, four School of Public Policy alumni won their campaigns for public office during the Maryland 2018 elections. 

John "Johnny O" Olszewski Jr. won his first campaign bid for Baltimore County Executive, having previously served on local state boards. He received his Ph.D. in Public Policy from UMBC in 2017.

Delegate Charles Sydnor III of Maryland's District 44B won reelection to the Maryland House of Delegates. He was first elected to the House in 2014. He received his Master of Public Policy from UMBC in 2000.

Jon Cardin won election as Delegate representing Maryland's District 11 in the House of Delegates. He was previously elected to the House in 2002, 2006, and 2010. Cardin received his Master of Policy Sciences in 1996.

Josh Hastings won election to the seven-member Wicomico County Council. Wicomico County is located in southeastern Maryland. Hastings received his Master of Public Policy in 2017.
