Pi Sigma Alpha Conference April 20th; Present your research!

Dear Political Science Students,

CALL FOR PROPOSALS!

Before the pandemic, the Department hosted an annual undergraduate research conference in April, with support from the national organization of Pi Sigma Alpha in Washington D.C. We were set to hold our 12th conference in 2020, but the pandemic stalled our plans. Now that we are back in person, we are ready to bring back the conference. We still have the Pi Sigma Alpha funding from 2020 that we didn't use!

Conference presenters usually present research that they have done in a class or independent study of some kind as a poster that they display to their visitors on an easel. Normally, visitors study the poster for a few minutes and then interact with you about your work. It's a wonderful opportunity for you to disseminate your work to a larger audience and to talk about your ideas.
Attached are a few photos from previous conferences to give you an idea of what it would look like, in addition to two actual posters that were presented by two students who graduated a few years ago.

The funding we received will cover the costs associated with your participation in the conference, including the printing and mounting of your poster on a poster board and lunch.
This year, the conference will be on April 20th from 11am to 1pm and we will likely hold it on the 2nd floor of the Policy Building as we have in years past.

If you would like to participate, please send your name, paper title, and a brief 4-5-sentence abstract by March 16th to forestie@umbc.edu. Also, please reach out if you have any questions.

Please consider participating if you have a strong paper from a class or other research experience that you would like to present! It's a wonderful experience for everyone - for presenters and visitors alike.

Thank you so much,

Carolyn Forestiere
