Step 7: Personnel Requisitions (Dec-Feb)

After a preferred candidate and the Chair have agreed on terms, it is time to develop a personnel requisition (a formal request to hire) in order to generate an official letter of appointment from the Provost’s Office that the candidate can sign.

PROCESSING FACULTY APPOINTMENTS ONCE NEGOTIATIONS ARE FINALIZED

Previous guidance for the hiring process is provided here.

Hiring process through PageUp:

  1. For the hiring process, the Chair/Director or Designee prepares the offer card on PageUp. For information on preparing the offer card, please see the instruction guide at the Human Resources website: https://umbc.app.box.com/v/ManagingofferspageupDOX.  Lisa Thomas will work with you if you have additional questions on this PageUp process. Your contact AD can help with the memo to HR and memo to Kimberly if you need assistance. See table below for documents required to upload into the offer card on PageUp for the hiring process.
  2. The department should move the candidate’s status into “Appointment Letter Sent” after the appointment letter is emailed. When you receive the signed letter from the selected candidate, (1) upload the signed appointment letter to the offer card, and (2) move the applicant status on the offer card to “Offer Accepted”.
