Andrist-Daglar-Falkner Faculty Chamber Music Concert

Three members of UMBC's music faculty — pianist Audrey Andrist, violist Renate Falkner, and oboist Fatma Daglar — present an afternoon of chamber music for their unusual instrumental pairing. Their concert will feature works by Claude Debussy, Rebecca Clarke, Margaret Bonds, Earl Wild, and Charles Martin Loeffler:

• Rhapsodie (1901) for English horn and piano by Claude Debussy (1862–1918)
• Morpheus (1917) for viola and piano by Rebecca Clarke (1886–1979)
• A selection of 20th century solo piano works by Margaret Bonds (1913–1972) and Earl Wild (1915–2010)
• Two Rhapsodies (1901) for oboe, viola and piano by Charles Martin Loeffler (1861–1935)

Hailed as a "stunning pianist with incredible dexterity" (San Francisco Classical Voice), Canadian pianist Audrey Andrist has thrilled audiences around the globe, from North America to Japan, China and Germany with her "passionate abandon," "bright energy," and "great intelligence." She has performed in many of North America's most prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Place des Arts in Montreal, Chicago's Ravinia Festival, and Alice Tully Hall in New York.

Praised for her versatility and creativity, American violist Renate Falkner leads an active career as an educator, recitalist, and orchestral and chamber musician, performing across the U.S. and abroad. Equally at home on both modern and baroque viola, she performs regularly with groups such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (at home and on international tours), Atlanta Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, and Artis-Naples, and is a former member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

Fatma Daglar is the oboist of the acclaimed wind quintet Zéphyros Winds. She is the principal oboist of Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Post-Classical Ensemble, Maryland Symphony Orchestra and Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. She has held the position of assistant principal oboe with the Louisville Orchestra and has performed on oboe and English horn with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Wolf Trap Opera Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Washington Concert Opera Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra, Britt Festival Orchestra, among many others.
