On role of the court system in governing risks and hazards
Public Policy Professor Susan Sterett and Ph.D. student Laura Mateczun have published a new article in the journal Risks, Hazards, & Crisis in Public Policy. The article "Displacement, Legal Mobilization, and Disasters: Trial Courts and Legal Process" examines the role of the court system in governing risks and hazards related to disasters.
Tracing the histories of key court cases taken after Hurricane Katrina, the paper argues for "for integrating courts into the governance of risks and hazards, and for following trial courts and process."
