Virtual Panel on Iranian Protests 10/14 1pm

Join to learn more about the ongoing protest movement

On Friday at 1 pm, we are holding a virtual panel covering the Iranian protests in response to the death of Mahsa Amini, who died in police custody. We will look at this through a historical and cultural lens. During the panel, we will also hold space for the personal stories of Iranian women students from our campus, including Public Policy's own Shadi Khabbaz, who was the driving force of this panel!

Panelists include Dr. Noor Zaidi from our History Department and award-winning, Iranian-American journalist Negar Mortazavi. She also hosts the Iran podcast, which can be found here. Our moderator is Dr. Mejdulene Shomali from Gender, Women's, + Sexuality Studies at UMBC.

Please feel free to RSVP here. I have also attached a flier. Please share far and wide! If someone outside our UMBC community would like to attend, they can RSVP directly to Dr. Lauren Edwards ledwards@umbc.edu
