Relay for Life May 6th 1pm to 7pm
Come help raise money for a worthy cause!!!
The UMBC Cancer Awareness Society is hosting Relay for Life on Friday, May 6th from 1 to 7 pm at UMBC in partnership with the Shriver Center, Residential Student Association, UMBC Police, and other campus departments. We would like to formally invite all POLI students, faculty, staff, and related organizations to join the Political Science Council of Majors' team for the event. Participants may sign up individually, form their own team, or join an existing team. The registration fee is $15 and participants can sign up at relayforlife.org/umbc
Relay for Life is a nationwide event that is used to raise money for cancer research for the American Cancer Society. The event itself is typically overnight with yard games, special ceremonies, and small competitions and games. We relay or walk around the track in support of those who have been impacted by cancer in any way (survivors, caregivers, etc.). The event's slogan is "cancer doesn't sleep so we won't either" so we require one person from each team to stay walking on the track at all hours of the event. All proceeds from the event go to our overall fundraising goal of $10,000.
See the event website and attached flyer for more details. Contact Hager Younes (hyounes2@umbc.edu), President of the Cancer Awareness Society for further questions regarding the event.
Best,
Zoe Smith
