UMBC Mock Trial Returns to National Championship

Our defending champs return to defend the crown!!!!

The number one nationally ranked UMBC Mock Trial team will be defending their title at the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) National Championship Tournament April 8th to April 10th.

The whole department is so proud of this team for their effort to battle through a brutal schedule and earn their fourth consecutive bid to Nationals.

Coach Ben Garmoe said:

I would encourage you to watch this video of our bid announcement to get a sense of what this means to our students. They pour so much of their time and effort into this activity, and I could not be more proud to coach them. This season especially has been challenging, with multiple transitions from virtual to in person, as well as the pressure of competing as defending champions. Despite all of this, they have never stopped working and improving, and I have every confidence that we can challenge for a repeat title in a few weeks."

Congratulations as well to program President Thomas Azari on his All-National Attorney award! Team members included team captains Thomas Azari '22, Lauren Wotring '22, and Natalie Murray '22, and members Brinda De Tchappi '23, Zinedine Partipilo Cornielles '23, Maria Kutishcheva '24, Maya Babu '23, and Eva Fulton '24. The team was coached by Ben Garmoe and Whitney Wilder.

Thank you as always for your tireless support of the team and lets cheer them on in Nationals next weekend!
