Linguistic Landscape Analysis Unpacked
April 6th virtual research talk by Dr. Roswita Dressler
Linguistic Landscape Analysis is a methodology that allows researchers to examine how languages are used on signs in specific contexts. This talk will focus on using this methodology in and around schools, or schoolscapes.
Little is know about how school signs interact with the signs of the neighborhoods in which they are situated. Dr. Roswita Dressler, Associate Professor in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary, will present a recent study of schools in Canada that offer minority language Bilingual Programs and the linguistic landscape of the neighborhoods around the schools.
7:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
This virtual research talk is being hosted by the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Language, Literacy, and Culture (LLC) Programs.
